Let me just start off by saying that I do not enjoy having conversations over text message. If you are with a friend and they are engaging in a separate conversation via text message, its uncomfortable to say the least, and we have all have that peeking tom friend who is constantly peering over to your messages, rude. Texting is a recently new thing, as a matter of fact the computer does not recognize it as a word, and I don't know about other parents but mine insist on using as little words and as many incorrect fragments as possible. example: u home yet? where u? here now. (this one never gets old) u in trouble. If you ask me texting is ruining the youth these days, they do not know how to have a face to face conversation, they would rather push buttons and create emotionless messages to someone sometimes rooms apart. Not to mention it is single handedly ruining the spelling of countless teens and tweens (oh how i love that word... "tweens"... lol). In the eighth grade I spelled would "wud" on a test and the teacher neither noticed nor marked me off. I can go on forever about txt tlk. The mst annoying thing that has evr bin put in my face. The lengths tht these kids go 2 2 abbr the simplest of words is sad. expressions like g2g, ttyl, hbu, lol, bcuz, btw and idk have become so well known that even my little cousin in France uses them. How much time could it possibly take to write the words out? However, text messaging can be useful for a quick question or to make a quick arrangement, but it shouldn't be used in place of getting to know someone or having a conversation.

Sabrina
